Presenter at Tema Renrum 2026

Aleksanteri Setälä & Olli-Pekka Jantunen will give a presentation at Tema Renrum 2026 – Read more about the presentation below

Aleksanteri Setälä

Halton

Aleksanteri Setälä is Head of Offering for Health & Cleanroom at Halton, where he leads the development of solutions for cleanrooms, hospitals and laboratories. For more than ten years he has worked on contamination control in pharmaceutical, life science and semiconductor cleanrooms and operating rooms, focusing on the question that drives both cleanliness and energy use: how much air is actually needed.

He also represents Halton in a joint industry and research consortium that compares design assumptions with measured performance in cleanrooms already in operation.

Olli-Pekka Jantunen

Granlund

Olli-Pekka Jantunen is a cleanroom design specialist with a background in HVAC engineering and controlled environments. His expertise centres on creating and maintaining the environmental conditions required for demanding processes, including airflow patterns, pressure control, airborne particle management, temperature and humidity.

At Granlund, he leads cleanroom engineering and design across projects ranging from semiconductor and pharmaceutical manufacturing to hospitals and research laboratories. With more than a decade of experience in the field, he combines practical design work with the development of more energy-efficient cleanroom concepts. He is also involved in collaborative industry and research work examining how cleanroom ventilation strategies perform in real operating environments.

The Sustainable Cleanroom Journey

Unlocking Potential Through Key Learnings from Real-Life Cleanroom Pilot Research

Joint ASC presentation by Aleksanteri Setälä, Hilton and Olli-Pekka Jantunen, Granlund

How much air does a cleanroom really need? In this joint ASC presentation, Halton and Granlund share early results from pilot research in operating cleanrooms, where particle concentrations have been monitored over long periods alongside the actual use of the space. The findings give a rare look at how cleanrooms behave in everyday operation and how that compares with the margins built into typical designs.

The session discusses what this could mean for more energy-efficient cleanrooms, from early design decisions to the operation of existing facilities.

The presentation will cover:

Varför tycker inspektörerna om när man har investerat i sin CCS?

  • Ongoing pilot research project in operating cleanrooms
  • Most cleanrooms are still designed with generous rule-of-thumb airflows, and ventilation is typically the largest single energy user in a cleanroom
  • First findings from long-term particle concentration monitoring in real cleanrooms, compared with occupancy and actual use of the space
  • What the results suggest about current design margins, and how a source-based approach to design and control could reduce energy use without compromising cleanliness
  • Practical takeaways for owners, designers and operators planning new cleanrooms or upgrading existing ones
