CCS: Critical Factors that Influence Environmental Monitoring Reliability
Environmental monitoring (EM) reliability depends not only on established microbiological methods but also on the quality, design, and handling of culture media. This presentation will focus on key factors influencing media performance, including neutralizer effectiveness, agar dehydration, contact plate sampling, condensation, shelf life, packaging, labelling, and lid design. Attendees will gain practical recommendations to improve the reliability, compliance, and efficiency of environmental monitoring programs.
The presentation will cover:
- Culture media quality is critical to the reliability of environmental monitoring results in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Key performance factors include neutralizer effectiveness, agar dehydration, contact plate sampling conditions, and condensation control.
- Media handling and design—including shelf life, packaging, labelling, and lid design—can significantly impact EM performance and workflow efficiency.
- Practical recommendations will be provided to support more reliable, compliant, and efficient environmental monitoring programs.
